First, I elected to run as an Independent because I did not want to become part of the political party process.  I believe a politician must represent the needs of the people who elected them and not big business or special interest.  It is your signatures and votes which will take me to Congress and it is your participation and ideas which will help me to improve the District. 

I know the power rests with you.  No one goes to Congress without your vote.  Yet, it is obvious the best interst of the voters is often ignored in favor of big business.  I want to return the power to people of the 4th District.  I plan to do this by empowering each of you.  Here is how:

• I will appoint persons from all political parties to my staff.  I will listen to the views of all persons from both parties and make my decision based upon the best interests of the District and my the position I preented to you during the election process.

• As an Independent I can speak with elected officials from all parties without seeking permission or worried about internal political party ramifications. 

• I beleive in issue oriented results not political party leveraging.

• I will provide equal assistance and services to all residents of the District regardless of political party affilitation. 
• I will divide the 4th District into 12 Community Districts with a designated Representative who communicates directly with me and one specific aide.  Although I will initially appoint the first 12 members for a period of 60 days, these representatives will be elected by the residents within that specific community.   Each Community Group will be divided into 12 Neighborhood Groups whose representatives will report directly to their Community District Representative.  Community and Neighborhood Group Representatives will be required to keep their communities informed of events, news and meetings within their Communities.  Although I will appoint the first Representatives for a period of 60 days, these Representatives will be elected by their communities. 

• I will hold bi-monthly community meetings rotating in all counties  of the District.  At least one of these meetings will be at night and at least one will be on the weekend.  I will be present at these meetings and they will be open to all members of the community.  In addition, you will have at least 30 days notice of the meeting time and place through your Community and Neighborhood Group Representatives. 

• I will present regular community town hall meetings on such subjects as Consumer Protection, Econmic Survival, Home Ownership and other ares which will be of interest and importance to your real world day to day life.  These persons will present various and often opposing views. 

You are probably saying what difference can one person make.  A lot!!!.  You must remember the majority of actions and services your Congresswoman will deliver do not require a full Congressional vote. 

I want to work hard for you and for you only.  By the way, one of my first major task will be to work with the District to develop candidates who can replace me and are equipped to run in local, state and federal elects.
